Government getting the youth indoctrinated ….
As cynical as the title may sound, what has been promoted as the house of lords becoming transparent by making bite size videos for the youth to understand what the house of lords means, turns out to be very much a watered down distortion of the reality, that anyone who partakes is going to make a great change.
I did enjoy the why get into politics video , ordinary people gave they views on why they think politics is an important activity to take part in. Someone even said there is a unfair distribution of wealth , I am very surprised the editors did not notice that. I would love to see that woman suggesting a redistribution of wealth in the house of lords, being realistic that’s not going to happen. The video with youth standing up in the house of lords voicing they opinions was good, sadly it was just a play.
The remaining videos contains history of the architecture of the Westminster hall and a video mentioning that woman have been part of it for 50 years. All very neatly finished.
There is also a blog that accommodates the videos, its basically a diary from some of the members of the house of lords detailing different events that happen in their jobs and views of the government on a myriad of different topics.
At the moment we have to accept that there is not much else we can do, other than try to keep this catastrophe in the public arena and to support where and whenever we can those organisations which are trying to free our friends and colleagues in detention and suffering severe torture.
That was the last paragraph from Terror in Zimbabwe which does set the tone for the rest of the bloggers. Nothing very different than what’s being presented by the present government is going to be found on the rest of the site.
By using youtube and creating a blog to appeal to the masses is definitely a good move but lets not be fooled by the same messages they are giving out. Its very similar to hitler youth and Nashi with respect to organising the youth to believe in what they want. It is of course politically different.
The question that bounces around my mind has been :-
Is the government worried that people are not interested in the government anymore?
From the evidence of the decline at voting turnouts , are they therefore advertising to the youth in order to save themselves becoming irrelevant to the vast population ?
